The Disability Economic Empowerment Project was started in November, 2007 through the hard work and persistence of six disabled individuals and a dedicated team of members from the Ministry of Health and Social Services. Today the project has sold more than 300 bicycles, in the Oneshila community of Oshakati. Transportation costs continue to plague this impoverished neighbor, and DEEP has given these individuals a means of safe, healthy and affordable movement to ensure the continued ability of the community to accomplish its daily tasks. DEEP has also help Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) Volunteers by providing free bicycles to help alleviate transportation costs and to ensure that all individuals with disability receive the care and support they require. DEEP is also committed to advocating for the rights of people with disabilities by educating the community, building alliances and empowering others who may not have a voice as yet. Our Motto is Disability Encourages Capability and we exemplify this motto in our daily proceedings.
